Handicrafts were one of primitive inventions of human beings, these were utility products made of clay, stone, wood, metal, leather and other naturally available materials which gradually embedded in social and economic life of the people that they became a living symbol of heritage.
Trough the ages the products faced tough competition from other emerging products for finding right place in human society. Thus, many craft practices which were globally dominant trading items at their peak time now surviving for mere existence.
No one knows exact number of craft practices nor there is any systematic survey of crafts of India. Efforts are being made at govt and non-govt levels to preserve protect and promote our craft heritage. We actively support this initiative through our expert teams and assist various agencies in systematic data collection, analysis and suggesting appropriate measure to protect the craft.
